Training Methods
Positive Reinforcement
Angie uses only positive reinforcement training techniques based on canine behavioral science. In this type of training, we take advantage of the things that naturally motivate dogs (food, toys, play, praise, attention, etc.) to reward behavior we like. She believes that training should be fun for both the dog and the pet parent.
The result? Happy, calm, attentive dogs that love to behave nicely because it’s fun and not because they are afraid of what might happen.
Positive reinforcement training is effective, fast, and humane. What’s more, it lasts a lifetime. The basic principles, once learned, can be applied with every aspect of the dog’s daily life from feeding to play time.
The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior recommends that veterinarians refer only to trainers who follow the scientific guidelines of positive reinforcement, classical and operant conditioning, desensitization, and counterconditioning.
